Story of My Cars (II)
3rd Car
Peugeot SR405
Why Peugeot?
Sebelum ni tak tepikir pun nak pakai Lion ni, maklum la bila kata kete continental, ni ramai yg takut dan kata susah nak maintain dan spare parts mahal, kurang mechanic, kalu ada pun mahal kena charge.
With all this, why you still decide want to have this car ?
Tu la, mula rasa nak angkat kete proton je -at least Wira. Tapi dah "diracun" guna tong drum dari one of my members, so amik gak la. Before that ada buat survey sket tentang w/shop, spare parts and how to maintain this car. One more, this car - very spaceous (saloon car la), bonet dia , walaa..! Ask for 3rd opinion (my wife) dia kata "Kalau keta omputih; saya tak de halangan" and she agreed. Furthemore her father owned a Volvo 240GL.
1st car yg pegi survey, SRi 2 point kat jln klang lama - gold color, tapi tak menarik sbb, Used Car tu tak pandai nak stored kan kete tu bebaik.
Yela kete Pug ni, masa tahun lepas (02), tak popular . Siap naik anai2 lagi dalam bonet kete, dashboard pun tak cantek, cat hampir mati, so tak jadi amik.
2 weeks after that, Din (fanatik Pug), jumpa satu SR dalam good condition and baru letak kat used car 2 hari. Kedai tu namanya Chin Motor, Kelana Jaya (kat Tabung Haji) tapi la ni dah tukar tempat kat Sunway. Satisfied with all the condition including test driving it, so jadi la amik kete tu. Tapi ada sket rugi, that car; SR (carburator Engine - bukan Injection).
My Pug tu, SR Auto 1.9 '96 black color First owner, one Malay Malaysian, I'm 2nd owner la. So trade in my beloved Kancil then put a deposit about RM1K. Loan with Southern Finance at 5.75% and for 7yrs - pakai sampai reput la kut :) At that time this car still at high price - RM29K, if not mistaken, after 5-6 months it drop to about 4-5K.
I tell u, this car, after a month pun rasa tak puas memandu nya.
What is the most I like about Pug ?
Like the famous quote from Peugeot: "We will stop build a Peugeot Car when there is no corner at this world"
So dari perkataan ini, ternyata la, Pug especially 405, kalu corner time dia memang syok. Comfort, besar, senyap dan yang penting:
1) rasa selamat bila duduk dlm kete dan
2) my wife suka :)
Did you guys believe, this car can take a corner at 180km/h without streching and this is with out modification like lowered or tukar absorber sport ke, tayar besar ke - just standard. But for me, I can do at 120km/h je, lagi laju takut ooo… But still I can handle it with one hand (cornering at 120km/h) (bukan nak bersifat takbur - nanti Tuhan marah, tapi ini apa yg telah dialami).
One funny thing yg I ingat about this car is my father. I asked him to drive my car from Ipoh to Taiping through PLUS. After Jelapang Toll, the speed limit is 80km/h after the hill, but he hit it until 120km/h. In the same time, my brother followed us from behind and gave me a call, he said "Ayah bawa laju tu, ada speed trap kat depan, suruh dia pelan sket" So I reminded Ayah about this, but he said, "mana ada laju, slow je ayah bawa" Then I said "cuba ayah tenguk meter", did you guys know what he said ? "Ya Allah, laju nya, awat rasa pelan ja bawa keta ni?" Me and my wife look at each other and smile :)
As for me, this car, give me satisfaction in many aspects. Maybe people said 405 is a Uncle's car, but who care's ~ this is my opinion!

Story of My Cars
1st Car
Saga Magma 1.5 Auto Aero-back Color:Maroon
Plate No. RB8138. Bought it end of 1995 from 2nd hand dealer in Perlis for RM3Xk.
Bought under my wife's name. Not much problems- as I know.
All that I can remember:
For repair and maintenance - changed drive shaft- done it at Klang, changed air cond fan - done it at Ipoh
For modification -use split fire cable, change exhaust to bigger type, relay for head lamp, changed rim from 13" to 14"-JRD
Accident!

Why sell it?
Paying for RM612 per month and since we were badly affected by the economic downturn
in 1999; my wife was given 'option' for voluntary retrenchment and caused family income to be reduced by half.
Sold it for RM23k in 1999 and the 'untung' of about RM3.6k was used to buy my second car.
2nd Car
Kancil EX Extra 660 Manual Colour: Pearl White Plate No. ADS3076. Price: RM18k. This car was registered under my name, so, it's my own car; for the very first time!
As for maintenance and repair - I would say no major one.
For modification - Using split fire cable and 2 head plug- but change to normal / OR cable and plug
back due to my mechanic advice so- Changed instructor 880, Changed exhaust, Use air power, lowered - compress spring and than potong, put spoiler at rear, modified Iswara front bumper to suite with Kancil, cut the gear knob to shorten, lowered the steering position using longer screw.
Accident!
Driving into flooded area! Not really considered as accident, but the flood just around the corner and hey, suddenly we are 'in' it. Managed to pass through even though inside the car was flooded too. No engine problem but stereo system - badly damaged.
Why sell it?
Well, the Kancil served my family well, travelling up and down, to Perlis, to Ipoh, back to Shah Alam. May be it just the right time to find bigger space and I think I am ready (financially) for a bigger car.
